The benefits of an E-receipt for use by businesses by 2025

The goal of the furtherance of the project of real-time economy is to make 20% of business-to-business receipts structured by the end of 2023. The goal is that by 2025, as much as 80% of business-to-business receipts would be in a structured form.

The goal is to achieve significant cost savings for businesses. The E-receipt, which will replace the paper receipt, is estimated to save businesses hundreds of millions of euros annually as manual work will decrease. At present, the scanning of receipts is not enough to bring savings; instead, receipts must be in a structured form.

An E-receipt contains information in a structured form. By processing structured data, the processes of financial administration can be made more automated while, at the same time, information contained in E-receipts can be used in data economy more extensively.

Benefits for use by businesses

Over its course, the project seeks to create opportunities for all Finnish companies and organizations to adopt the use of the structured receipt and, thereby, achieve the benefits brought by it.

In order to make the E-receipt and its benefits widely available, a stakeholder network as extensive as possible must be engaged in the activities. One such stakeholder network is the User Work Group of the E-invoicing Forum, which has already expressed its support to the objectives set for the E-receipt in the real-time economy project. The User Work Group actively participates in the development of the E-receipt in order to make the benefits of the digital receipt fully available.
