The Peppol authority function is intended to be transferred from the State Treasury to the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) at the beginning of 2027. A legislative amendment concerning the transfer is currently being considered by the Parliament. The transfer concerns the internal reorganisation of duties within central government administration. The transfer will not affect the Peppol authority services or stakeholder activities.
The plan is to transfer the official duties relating to the development and supervision of the electronic business document transmission network (Peppol network) from the State Treasury to the PRH. At the same time, the experts performing the tasks as well as the financing for the activities would be transferred, which would ensure the continuity of the operations and expertise.
The PRH is already responsible for co-ordinating the network and the co-development of companies’ digital financial administration. Moving the Peppol authority function to the PRH would create a more unified entity and support the long-term development of electronic business documents and the associated transmission network.
The services will run normally
The Peppol authority services and co-operation with stakeholders will continue as normal. The Peppol authority will soon contact the parties affected by the transfer of agreements. The planned transfer date is 1 January 2027. The outcome of the consideration of the legislative amendment will be communicated separately.
Monitor the parliamentary consideration of the government proposal.
