Support for business costs from the State Treasury – the support cannot yet be applied

The Finnish Government has decided to introduce a new form of support intended to cover the costs of businesses that have experienced a marked decrease in turnover due to the coronavirus and have costs that are difficult to adjust. The support will be granted by the State Treasury.

An act on the support for business costs is currently being prepared by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and the Ministry of Finance. The new act is expected to be approved by Parliament on June at the earliest. The State Treasury is preparing to pay support to businesses for four weeks (20 business days) after the approval of the act.

The support cannot yet be applied because the relevant law has not yet been passed in Parliament.

The State Treasury will provide more information on its website and social media channels once the act is approved and the details have been clarified. After the act is approved the support is applied for via the State Treasury’s e-services.
