Cost support is subject to EU State aid rules. What does that mean?

European Union legislation requires that the aid granted to a single company must not exceed EUR 800,000. When calculating the maximum amount, any support is taken into account which a single company or companies in the same corporate group have received when the support has been granted under the framework support programme approved by the commission and applicable to Finland. The purpose of the programme is to help the companies that are most affected by the economic impact of the epidemic to gain finances so that they can continue to operate, invest and maintain jobs.

When granting cost support, the State Treasury must ensure that the cost support granted to a single company, together with other subsidies already granted to the company under the support programme, does not exceed EUR 800,000. For this reason, the company must in its application present information on State aid related to the corona pandemic that has already been granted to the company if necessary.
